Students perform better when they come to class healthy and ready to learn. Students at schools with a HealthFirst Bluegrass Healthy Kids School-Based Clinic can be seen by a healthcare provider if they are sick or need acute care while at school. They can also have a school or sports physical, get an immunization or flu shot, have their teeth examined, or speak to a Mental Health counselor in a safe, nurturing place.
Each Healthy Kids Clinic is staffed by a competent team of a Registered Nurse, a Nurse Practitioner, an ADHD Physician, and a Mental Health Counselor. Also, a Dentist provides Dental services on a rotating schedule. It’s just like having a Doctor’s office at school!
Eight elementary schools in the Fayette County Public School district have a Healthy Kids Clinic – Arlington, Booker T. Washington, Breckinridge, Cardinal Valley, Harrison, Mary Todd, Tates Creek and William Wells Brown. Students attending these schools can be seen in the clinic while they are at school. They just need to have a signed, completed consent packet on file at the clinic, with a copy of their current insurance or Medicaid card, and their current KY Immunization Certificate.
Any student attending one of the public schools in the Fayette County Public School district can be seen in a HealthFirst Bluegrass Healthy Kids Clinic. They need to have an appointment (walk-ins are not accepted) and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families may fill out the consent packet at home before their student’s scheduled visit, or it can be completed by the student’s parent or guardian at the clinic. To download the Healthy Kids Clinic consent packet, click:
